TikTok users are sharing their strange, cringe-worthy, and hilarious ‘meaningless tattoos’, proving that body art doesn’t always have to have a poignant message behind it.
The trend was started by US-based user Elleot, who goes by @pigeonsandfries on the app, where he explained that when he was growing up, he ‘was always told that tattoos should have meaning’ — but of course, not everyone limits their permanent ink to profound or sentimental artwork.
So, Elleot asked his fellow TikTokers to share their own meaningless tattoos, which they got ‘just because’ — and many have obliged, showing off tats of a block of cheese, the word ‘beans,’ and a cartoon of Steve Irwin with a Croc shoe.

Puns! TikTokers are sharing their strange, cringe-worthy, and hilarious ‘meaningless tattoos,’ including this one with the words ‘above knee’ and ‘bologna’ above and below the knee

Too funny! Preston Davis had one of the most popular videos with his bologna tattoo

Stitch this! TikTok user Elleot started the trend by showing off the line on his nose. ‘I used to draw it there with eyeliner and I liked it, so here it is,’ he said

Clever: User @ddrmoshpit is covered in ink — including over her armpit. There, she has grown out her armpit hair to complete the design of a bearded lady
Elleot himself went first, admitting that a lot of his tattoos don’t have meaning, and some just cover up scars.
But his most noticeable ink is a small horizontal black line across the bridge of his nose.
‘I used to draw it there with eyeliner and I liked it, so here it is,’ he says.
One of the most popular responses came from a man named Preston Davis, who showed off a pair of tattoos on his leg. First, above his knee, he has the words ‘above knee.’ Below his knee is just one word: ‘Bologna.’
Meanwhile, @ddrmoshpit is covered in ink — including over her armpit. There, she has grown out her armpit hair to complete the design of a bearded lady.
User @ewrinsmith_brainrot couldn’t show off their meaningless tattoo because of its sensitive location, but explained that they paid $50 for a ‘you get what you get’ design — and ended up coffin on their butt.

Cheesy! Jessica Dempsey has cheesewith the words ‘Never say when.’ She explained, ‘When you go to Olive Garden and they’re grating cheese and they’re like, “Hey, just tell me when!” No. I’ll never say when’

Punny stuff! TikToker @anniebearblue0304 has a postage stamp with the character Tramp from ‘Lady and the Tramp’ — which she calls her ‘tramp stamp’

Weird stuff: TikToker @nicemichael has a cockroach eating a Krabby Patty from the fictional SpongeBob SquarePants restaurant the Krusty Krab

Basic: He also has a drawing of his dog Walter — which looks absolutely nothing like Walter
‘Because I’m deada**’ they explained.
TikToker @kalayle has a similarly sensitive tat on her breast of a bee, which she calls her ‘Boob-bee.’
A woman named Jessica Dempsey shared another popular video with a look at the colorful tat on the block of her arm. It shows a triangular block of cheese with three olives at its base and the words ‘Never say when.’
‘That’s a block of cheese,’ she explains. ‘Cause I like cheese. It says “never say when,” like when you go to Olive Garden and they’re grating cheese and they’re like, “Hey, just tell me when!” No. I’ll never say when.’
TikToker @anniebearblue0304 couldn’t help but laugh at her own ink — so while it may be meaningless, it certainly brings joy.
On her calf, she has a postage stamp with the character Tramp from ‘Lady and the Tramp’ — which she calls her ‘tramp stamp.’

Foodie: A woman named Veda also has two: the word ‘beans’ written on the inside of her elbow

More! She also has the character Jay from the animated show Big Mouth on her upper arm

Descriptive! Sioned Freer also has a single word written on his body. In his case, it’s the word ‘toes,’ written across his actual toes

Stranger: Xowie Jones also had a single word — the name ‘Madison’ — on her inner lip. It’s meaningless, though, because she doesn’t have a friend named Madison

User @thatbutchbimbo proudly showed off her snake plant tattoo — which isn’t the actual snake plant (species dracaena trifasciata) but a trio of snakes in a flower pot.
‘Like yeah, I like snakes and gardening, but I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t get it exclusively for the pun,’ she said.

Lots of art! Bijan admitted that ‘like all’ of his tattoos are meaningless, including ones of a hangman game, Mr. Potato Head, ‘dudes kissing,’ Cookie Monster, and dead Mickey Mouse

Crikey! Dakota Hershberge shared one of the more random ones: a drawing of Steve Irwin holding a Croc — as in the shoe, not a crocodile

Loves it: User @bigmama947 shared her tattoo of Early Cuyler, an animated redneck squid from the Cartoon Network show Squidbillies
A man named Bijan admitted that ‘like all’ of his tattoos are meaningless, including ones of a hangman game, Mr. Potato Head, ‘dudes kissing,’ Albert Einstein, Nacho Libre, Cookie Monster, dead Mickey Mouse, and Monsters Inc.’s Mike Wazowski.
Though Bijan may win the award for most meaningless tattoos, though, Dakota Hershberge shared one of the more random ones: a drawing of Steve Irwin holding a Croc — as in the shoe, not a crocodile.
Finally, @bigmama947 shared her tattoo of Early Cuyler, an animated redneck squid from the Cartoon Network show Squidbillies.
‘There’s no meaning to it. Well, there is. I have no class, and I got bad taste. And I love him. Oh, and the little tattoo boy put the hat [with] MILF [written on it]. He had a terrible sense of humor.
