Ollie Palmer's first-half goal secured victory at former club Crawley to end Wrexham's three-match winless run in League Two.
Palmer scored with audacious flick over Corey Addai after James McClean's cross was deflected.
Addai made a crucial save to deny Paul Mullin late in the first half
Wrexham were reduced to 10 men in the second half when Andy Cannon was shown a red card seven minutes after coming on for his challenge on Adam Campbell.
Phil Parkinson's side are up to seventh and in the play-off places while Crawley are eighth after a second successive defeat.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said:
"It's a huge win for us. They're a decent side and have done well this season. There was a great togetherness about the group and you could sense it.
"All I can say about the sending off is that the ref goes to pull a yellow card out of his pocket and I'd like to ask him what changed his mind because the lad's rolled on the floor, so theatrical.
"But in adversity the lads have dug really deep and that's great for us."
